They were sisters
A most unusual little mourning ring, circa 1800. It is high carat gold, the band in sections of engraved designs. The ring is set with a Columbian emerald, symbolising love and devotion and rose-cut diamonds, symbolising constancy. The interior of the shank has a lock of hair under crystal and is poignantly inscribed in Latin, erater soron – they were sisters. The ring is size I and 1/2 [US 4 and 1/2] and immaculate.
