Amethyst pendant earrings

High carat gold earrings worked in the repoussé manner and set with amethysts, circa 1830. Repoussé was a decorative technique whereby three dimensional relief designs were formed by raising and pushing up the gold from the reverse. These articulated repoussé earrings are 2 and 1/2 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide across the pendant drop. Light as a feather on the ear and immaculate.
