Georgian French jet bow

An extraordinary large and dramatic French jet bow brooch, circa 1840. It is silver gilt and set with faceted French jet. French jet was cast glass, the glass cut with facets to resemble gemstones. The pendant drop is detachable. The brooch is 3.5 inches wide and 2 and 1/4 inches long. It is in its original fitted case with the owner’s initials SW embossed on the reverse of the case.
