Georgian cruciform mourning ring

A Georgian mourning ring of cruciform shape, dated 1738. The scrolled band is inscribed with the details of the deceased, reserved on a black enamel ground : Peter Blair Ob. 6 July 1738 Aet. 77. The central compartment contains a weave of hair under table-cut rock crystal, flanked by four rose-cut diamonds, set silver. The ring is size L and 1/2 [US 5 and 7/8] and is completely original with enamel in near perfect condition.
