Georgian cut-steel tiara

A pretty tiara circa 1820, of cut-steel with star and foliate motifs. Brightly polished steel with pierced and faceted decoration, became popular for a wide range of jewellery from buttons, buckles and chatelaines to tiaras, bracelets and sword hilts. The polished steel would have dazzled in candlelight. The tiara is in 9.5 inches in length and 1 and 1/3 inches tall front centre. In sparkling and rust free condition.
