Berlin iron vine leaf earrings
Berlin iron earrings circa 1820, in the Geiss vine leaf design. Berlin iron jewellery is something of an oxymoron. Berlin iron jewellery manufacturers managed to transform a black industrial substance into precious pieces of jewellery sought after by women of fashion across Europe. A contributing factor to its success was the popular young Queen Louise of Prussia who introduced Grecian style dresses and Berlin iron jewellery to the Prussian court. These vine leaf earrings are 2 inches long and 2/3 of an inch wide. Light on the ear and in immaculate, rust free condition.
