A fine quality French love token rebus ring, circa 1800. A rebus is a puzzle where images or letters convey a secret, amorous message. Here the high carat gold shank supports a lozenge of vibrant cobalt blue glass, surmounted by rose-cut diamond initials LV, within a surround of natural pearls. The diamond initials LV stand for Elle veut – she is willing, as in she is willing to accept your proposal of love.
