Art Deco skyscraper ring

By H.G. Murphy – an Art Deco ‘Skyscraper’ gold, enamel, emerald and diamond ring, circa 1930. With maker’s mark HGM to interior. The ring is size N [US 6 and 1/2].  Henry George Murphy was a silversmith and jeweller with a career spanning thirty years in which he produced in both the Arts and Crafts and Art Deco styles. Murphy was a widely revered figure who seemed in his many skills to encapsulate that early 20th century dream, the successful marriage of art and industry. A similar example is illustrated on page 47 of The Jewellery and Silver of H.G.Murphy by Atterbury and Benjamin.
