Ref  NC5   Agnus Dei

'Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.' So said John the Baptist when he saw Jesus, [John 1:29]. A gold and enamel slide, circa 1680. The slide is enamelled in duck-egg blue to obverse and reverse and set with a heart-shaped enamel depiction of John the Baptist as a child with Agnus Dei, representing Christ. The lamb symbolised innocence and the cross symbolised Christ's victory over sin. The slide measures 1 and 1/4 inches by 3/4 of an inch and is in completely original and extremely fine condition.
