Ref  FD1  Diamond Caduceus

Fine quality and substantial caduceus brooch, circa 1890. The caduceus was the traditional symbol of Hermes, with two serpents entwined around a winged staff. It has come to be the symbol of medicine. This caduceus is gold and silver, in the form of rose-cut diamond serpents with ruby eyes and a pearl topped and tipped staff. It is 3.5 inches long and 2 inches wide across the wing span. Superior quality and immaculate.
