Ref  FD4  Georgian Foiled Rock Crystal Ring

A delectable Georgian ring, circa 1780. The substantial high carat gold shank supports a head set with a table-cut natural rock crystal, foiled vibrant magenta pink, between rock crystal shoulders, set silver.  The reverse of the ring is reeded in the typical 18th century manner. The ring is size J and 1/2 [US 5] and the gem-set head of the ring measures 3/4 of an inch by 1/3 of an inch. A completely original Georgian ring in immaculate condition, with its foil as vibrant as the day it was made. For similar, see Colour Plate 72 in D'Orey's Five Centuries of Jewellery, National Museum of Ancient Art, Lisbon.
