A droll French watercolour miniature set to a silver pendant, circa 1790. A winged cherub sleeps soundly in an empty ogee-bowl wine glass, having drunk its contents. The miniature is inscribed in French : A la volupté - meaning lively enjoyment and to drink with pleasure. The pendant measures 2 inches by 2 inches and is immaculate.
