Ref  HL3   Georgian Hair Embroidery

Fine quality mourning ring, dated 1816. The high carat gold Rococo shank supports a compartment set with a panel of  hair embroidered onto a ground of cerise silk, under crystal and within a surround of old-cut diamonds, set silver. To reverse, the details of the deceased : Ann Mills Died 4th July 1816 aged 80. The ring is size L and 1/2 [US 5 and 7/8] and the gem-set head measures 1/2 an inch by 1/3 of an inch. Immaculate.
