Ref  PA3   Stuart Crystal Mourning Ring

A fine and substantial Stuart crystal mourning ring, circa 1680. The chased and engraved high carat gold shank supports a compartment containing a ground of hair surmounted by gold wirework initials of the deceased, BE. The compartment is covered with a densely faceted rock crystal. The sides of the shank are arcaded with black enamel. The ring is size Q [US 8] and the head of the ring measures 1/3 of an inch by 1/3 of an inch. Very fine quality and with the majority of its original enamel still intact.
