Ref  MLB4   18th Century Harlequin Pansy Earrings

Rather fabulous harlequin pansy earrings, Portuguese, circa 1780, comprised of faceted amethyst, topaz and rock crystal in foiled and closed back silver settings. The earrings have reverse gold ear fittings. They are 1 and 1/4 inches in length and 3/4 of an inch wide. The only other example of these Portuguese harlequin pansy earrings I have seen are in the Lisbon Museum and illustrated on page 101 in D'Orey's Five Centuries of Jewellery. Rare, luscious, immaculate.
