Ref  MB1  Carlo Giuliano Brooch

Fine quality 18 carat gold brooch enamelled in royal blue and white, in the Renaissance style, circa 1890. The brooch is stamped CG for Carlo Giuliano, celebrated goldsmith and jeweller active in London from 1860. Giuliano first worked in Naples where he was employed by Castellani. He left Castellani's employ in the early 1860's and designed jewels for Robert Phillips, Harry Emanuel, and Hunt & Roskell, all leading London jewellers. In 1875  he established his own shop at 115 Piccadilly, specialising in Renaissance style designs. The business closed in 1914. The brooch is very fine and typical of Giuliano's attention to detail, enamelled on both the obverse and reverse. His CG mark is under the pin. It is 1.5 inches long and 2/3 of an inch wide and immaculate.
