18th Century Portuguese Aquamarine Earrings
Rather luscious and quite rare Portuguese flower head earrings, circa 1780. The earrings are silver set with pale aquamarines in foiled and closed back settings. 18th century Portuguese jewels were designed to enable the light to draw to maximum effect the refraction and colour of the gemstones, so they dazzled, especially in flickering candlelight. The earrings measure 1 and 1/4 inches by 3/4 of an inch and are in sparkling and immaculate condition.
