18th Century Rock Crystal Earrings
A fine quality pair of Portuguese rock crystal pendant earrings, circa 1780. The articulated earrings are silver, set with faceted, natural colourless rock crystal in foiled and closed back settings. Bow-knots link the navette shaped tops and elongated drops, which enclose tiers of rock crystal graduated in size. They are 3 and 1/8 inches long, 3/4 of an inch wide at their widest point and have their original reverse fittings. They are immaculate. For a pair of identical design, see plate 38 in Scarisbrick’s new publication, Jewels of Portugal.
