En grisaille portrait miniature ring

A most charming late 18th century French portrait ring. The gold ring encloses an en grisaille miniature of a coquettish young female with curled and upswept hair, depicted in profile on a grey ground. It is in the style of Vigeé Le Brun. Grisaille was a painting technique where an image was executed entirely in muted shades of grey to create the illusion of sculpture.The ring is size Q [US 8] and the head of the ring is 1 and 3/4 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide.
