Georgian paste hoops
I haven’t had any of these for ever and a day, a fine quality pair of Georgian paste hoops, English, circa 1800. English jewellers excelled at making white paste jewellery, brilliant-cut and set in simple, well proportioned and substantial mounts. These earrings are silver set with colourless paste in foiled, closed back silver settings. The original reverse ear fittings are gold. The clever elliptical design means the stones are on view from all angles when on the ear. They are 1 and 1/8 inches long, one inch wide and completely original. For an identical pair see Catalogue Entry 33 in Scarisbrick’s Brilliant Impressions An Exhibition of Antique Paste and Other Jewellery.
