Pyramid of Cestius

A micromosaic of the pyramid of Cestius, set to a 9 carat  gold ring, circa 1840. When on tour in Italy it was common practice to purchase micromosaics of famous monuments and have them set in pieces of jewellery. The pyramid of Cestius is an ancient pyramid in Rome, built in the style of Nubian pyramids as a tomb for Gaius Cestius. This ring is size J [US 4 and 5/8] and the mosaic measures 1/2 an inch by 1/3 of an inch. Immaculate condition.
