Georgian heart-shaped Burma ruby cluster

Pretty Georgian heart-shaped cluster ring, circa 1800. The high carat gold decorative shank supports a cluster head set with a natural Burma ruby of approximately 1/2 a carat, within a cluster surround of rose-cut diamonds, all gems in closed back settings. The shoulders are set with old-cut diamonds. The rubies symbolised passionate love and the diamonds constancy. The ring is size J [US 4 and 5/8]. The head of the ring measures 1/3 of an inch by 1/3 of an inch. Fine quality and immaculate.
