Ref  AJ1   Souvenir D'Amitie

A most unsual and ingenious Western European 'souvenir d'amitie' token of love ring, circa 1890. The high carat gold pierced shank is set fully round with rose-cut diamonds. The head of the ring is bordered with natural pearls on one side and old-cut diamonds on the other. An The head of the ring contains an ambigram, a word whose elements retain meaning when viewed or interpreted from different directions or angles. The fret-cut centre spells Souvenir in Gothic capitals set with rose-cut diamonds. If the ring is turned up the other way, Souvenir becomes :  Ne D'anon - from anonymous. The ring is size N [US 6 and 1/2] and the ring is 1/2 an inch wide at front centre. Beautifully crafted, very fine quality, and immaculate.
