Ref  GA1  Giardinetti Ring

Rococo giardinetti ring, circa 1760. These Rococo rings with asymmetrical  floral bezels reflected the mid-18th century taste for the light, elegant and graceful. This example is unusually gold rather than silver. The decorative reeded hoop and scalloped shoulders support a giardinetti basket set with a harlequin array of gemstones, rubies, rose-cut diamonds and an emerald in foiled, closed back settings, amidst gold textured leaves. The ring is size O [US 7] and can be sized, and the giardinetti basket measures 2/3 of an inch by 2/3 of an inch. A completely original 18th century giardinetti ring in immaculate condition.
