Ref  SM3  Georgian Gold Chain

An exceptional high carat gold chain, circa 1810. The chain is in the form of a continuous woven tube of gold, with circular gold embellishments at intervals, to an integral barrel clasp. The subtle colour of its original mercurial gild remains intact. The chain is 21 inches long and the links are 1/2 an inch wide across the front. For a chain of this type to have survived in such immaculate condition is extremely rare. For similar, see colour plate, page 172 in Collings' Georgian Jewellery.
