Ref  BP1  Mortality and Immortality

Fine quality high carat gold mourning ring, dated 1703. The hoop is ornamented with four symbols of mortality on a white enamel ground : a coffin, a skull and crossbones, gravedigger's tools, a winged hourglass [tempus fugit - time flies], and a crown. I have had a number of permutations of this type of ring over the years but this is the first I have seen with a crown, the incorruptible crown of immortality. To interior the details of the deceased : Rev. M J Blandy Obt. 28 June 1703 aet 53. The ring is size N and 1/2 [US 6 and 3/4] and the band is 1/8 of an inch wide. Immaculate condition.
