Ref  HE5  Georgian Mourning Miniature Ring

An unusual mourning miniature ring, circa 1800. The gold shank suppports a compartment containing a sepia miniature of a female with powdered wig watching over a child lying on a shroud gazing Heavenwards. The miniature is covered by a crystal and is within an amethyst surround, the colour purple denoting mourning. The ring is size I [US 4 and 1/4] and can be sized, and the head of the ring measures 2/3 of an inch by 1/2 an inch. Immaculate.
