Ref  TYS5    Siamese Cat

Fine quality early 20th century reverse crystal carving of a Siamese cat in a 9 carat gold pendant mount, by the hand of Belgian artist, Ernest M. Pradier [1881 -1967]. The pendant was commissioned from Pradier for a 21st birthday gift. The Pradier family were skilled exponents of the reverse intaglio art form. On such jewels a design was incised to the reverse of a cabochon rock crystal. The crystal was then painted in fine detail and backed with mother of pearl. The effect achieved is photo realistic. The pendant measures one inch by one inch and is immaculate.
