Ref  AK4  18th Century Portuguese Harlequin Daisies

Flower petal earrings, Portuguese, circa 1760 - 1780, reflecting the 18th century passion for naturalism. The silver earrings are set with a central topaz and a harlequin array of petals in subtly hued foiled amethyst quartz, used to obtain a variety of colours. The settings are cut-down and closed backed. The earrings have their original reverse fittings with attendant wig loops. They measure one inch by one inch. For identical form, see d'Orey's Five Centuries of Jewellery, National Museum of Ancient Art Lisbon. There are two tiny chips on two petals of these rare earrings.
