REF 4005  Eros of Centocelle

A Horned Helmet shell cameo in a high-carat gold Etruscan Revival mount, circa 1870. The subject is Eros of Centocelle, after a statue of the god of Love in the Museo Pio-Clementino, Vatican City, Rome. The brooch measures 2 inches by 1.5 inches and the cameo measures 1.5 inches by 1 and 1/4 inches. A fine carving, well executed, of an unusual subject.
